Organizational Development

There is a growing asymmetry between in size, complexity and risk of major projects, and the capability of many organizations to develop, plan and execute them.  We refer to this organizational capability as the “Project Delivery System”, and it consists of the people, work processes, and governance model that are the components of organizational effectiveness.

Predictable project outcomes require that the Project Delivery System (PDS) provide the competencies needed to effectively address the risks in the project portfolio. The “PDS Health Check” provides an unbiased assessment of each core competency, a gap analysis and recommendations as needed.

Project organizations require work processes, methods, systems and procedures to ensure consistency, efficiency, predictability, and effective governance.  Often, these were developed in past years when projects were smaller and less complex.  Westney Consulting assists clients in the development, documentation, rollout and implementation of project management work processes, including the presentation of training courses at the project and executive levels.

The strategic significance of capital projects, the strategic risks involved, and the increased complexity of decisions create a need for increased awareness at the executive level of the concepts and methods required.  Executive learning programs are tailored to each client, and may cover topics such as Decision & Risk Analysis, Strategic Planning, and Organizational Effectiveness.
